Botanical name: Platycerum bifurcatum
Perfect gift idea for him! Mounted on a silhouette of a springbuck with the fronds of the fern mimicking the horns of a buck. A perfect addition to any man cave, bar corner or even a focal point on a patio! This buck head is handmade and only 1 in stock.
This is an epiphyte (a plant that grows on another plant like a tree, and not necessarily in soil) with grey-green fronds that resemble the horns of the stag antelope. These ferns are particularly popular in a wood-mounted option. These particular ferns are one of a kind as the wood that it's mounted on cannot be replicated. The stump it's mounted on is around 50cm high and 30cm wide. It comes with all the air plants as displayed in the photo.
It lends a degree of interest to the indoor plant collection and would particularly do well in bathrooms. The roots should never be allowed to dry out, therefore a humid environment is perfect. This is certainly a plant for the more experienced house plant addict as it needs more attention than other plants.
Give it bright indirect light and avoid direct sunlight. Your Staghorn fern will dry out quickly in the sun.
Water crowns regularly, allowing roots to dry slightly between waterings. Roots must never be allowed to dry out. Occasionally immerse entire root ball (not the fertile fronds) in water for several minutes and then drain. In pots, use epiphytic or sphagnum fern mix. Pot grown plants may be watered from below.
